Are your tires ready for colder weather?

Colder weather is approaching. Now is the time to make sure your car is ready for winter.

One of the key components to safely driving in the winter is your tires. Worn tires that loose traction can quickly turn into a bad situation.

An easy way to check your tires is next time you stop for gas, turn your front tires from side to side to see if there is tread wear. Are your tires wearing evenly across the tire, or is one side or the middle of the tire worn down more than the other?  Another easy and somewhat cool test is called the penny test. To do the penny test, place the penny into the tread of your tire with Lincoln’s head down.  If the tread covers part of Lincoln’s head, you have more than 1/8” inch of tread.  If you can see all of Lincoln’s hair, then your tires would be considered “bald” and needs to be dealt with immediately.
